Our Definition
Operations Management pertains to the day-to-day functions required to maintain IT service delivery. Operations uses the discussed processes to perform many of the tasks. Operations Management includes enterprise-wide monitoring and measuring. It also includes defining, documenting and first level analysis of all incidents that may affect service delivery.
Effect of Implementation
- Operations ensures day-to-day service delivery is managed and surprises are eliminated.
- Operations normally performs and manages all backup activities. In many cases they also manage all recovery actions to ensure service continuity.
- Operations works closely with the Help Desk function to maintain customer satisfaction.
- Operations ensures any day-to-day issues are dealt with and become part the input information to longer term architecture and planning functions.
